Media Literacy Workshop Curriculum
This two-hour interactive Media Literacy Workshop created by MNN's Youth Channel offers participants a chance to think critically about the media we consume everyday. Through a series of large and small group discussions, interactive activities, video clips and photographs, participants will explore the following issues: media advertising; ownership and content; media consolidation; identity and representation; and the central role media plays in democratic societies. Participants will also learn about public-access television and the growing youth media field.

MNN has recently purchased the historical firehouse located on 104th street in East Harlem. In an effort to inform community residents on the developments of the house (we plan to have a state-of-the-art media facility), the Community Media Department has created BarrioLink, a quarterly newsletter for East Harlem residents and community groups.

Along with this publication, MNN is holding a series of "encuentros" to gauge the media needs of the community and how the new site may be able to fulfill them.

If you'd like to subscribe to Barriolink, or to attend these gatherings, please call 212.757.2670 x352. Make sure to leave your full name, address, organizational affiliation (if applicable), and your email.
