Press Release

Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) announces a special programming initiative to raise awareness around HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment services for people living with AIDS. The programming initiative includes a "PSA day" for Manhattan-based non-profits which promote and provide HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness services.

Other elements of the programming initiative include panel discussions and performances. The programming block will air on World AIDS Day, December 1st from 8-11 pm . From December 1st through December 10th, MNN will also air special programming from its vast archives highlighting the struggles of New Yorkers to fight for services and civil rights for people living with AIDS.

The ten day programming initiative commemorating the 25th year of the epidemic will culminate on December 10th with programs curated by MNN's Youth Channel, in collaboration with UNICEF's International Children's Day of Broadcast, which this year is dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness. MNN will air its special programming on Time Warner Cable 34, RCN 83, and via its website at MNN.org.

About MNN

Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) is a non-profit organization that broadcasts programming on four public access stations in Manhattan. Our diverse shows include but aren't limited to news, talk shows, interviews, debates, documentaries, travelogues, live music, and sketch comedy. Our programs range from local to international in scope, and reach up to 3 million viewers around Manhattan.

Broadcasting more than 1200 active shows in 20 languages, 24 hours a day, MNN programming reflects the diverse communities that make up our borough. We also stream all our programming live online at MNN.org; many of our shows now reach a national and international audience. Sometimes controversial, always gritty and real, MNN is the pulse of New York City, because our programming is made by and for New Yorkers.

We are also a community media center that provides individuals and groups with the education and resources to produce shows for our network. We offer dozens of free workshops per season, and provide production facilities and equipment for certified individuals and groups to create cablecast shows for MNN.
