Carl Person 11-18-08 Air date

November 14, 2008 - 4:01am

Carl Person 11-18-08 Air date Carl E. Person. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and has more than 40 years of litigation experience, primarily in antitrust, commercial and civil rights cases. The websites of greatest interest to users of this rebate website should be: (i) Attorney Person's website about using a "town attorney general" to represent a small town or village and its residents and small businesses against the numerous and continuing violations of law by major corporations that are illegally taking away the jobs, property values, and standard of living from residents, and illegally putting local small businesses out of business. See Town Attorney General Website My name is Carl E. Person, and I am an attorney admitted to practice in New York. Since 1993, I have written more than 100 websites (very loosely defined to include pamphlets, articles, books published on Internet, a cartoon, works in progress). My c.v. or resume is at Updated C.V. or Resume of Carl E. Person This website is my oldest website. Lawmall.com is basically an index to these 100+ websites, not only for users, but for me to be able to find my own material. I am a graduate of Long Island University and Harvard Law School and have more than 40 years of litigation experience, primarily in antitrust, commercial and civil rights cases. Categories of my websites, articles, pamphlets, books and other works (even a Wal-mart cartoon) are available through links in the leftside or top banners. Most of my material is law related, and at this time I am actively trying to create a new governmental position, which I call, generically, the "town attorney general". See my website My Town Attorney General Website. Other names for this new office (not yet achieved in any of the nation's 38,967 towns, villages, cities, counties or other municipalities) are: • NYC Attorney General [which I am now trying to create through a ballot initiative in NYC, naming myself as the first NYC Attorney General] • City Attorney General • County Attorney General • Village Attorney General • Municipal Attorney General So I can change the total number from time to time, I am including a link to my source for statistics on the number of counties, cities, towns and other municipal governments in the United States. See Wikipedia as Source for my 40,000 Total [scroll halfway down the long page]. There are 3,034 counties; 19,429 "cities" and other municipalities with "large" populations; and 16,504 "towns" or "townships". I'll use the figure 40,000. The law has been used during the past 40 years to reduce the rights and standard of living of most Americans. As I see the problem, from my vantage point as a lawyer, litigator, private enforcer of the nation's laws, and someone who has tried (unsuccessfully) to run for statewide office in NYS (Attorney General, in 2006), the country needs more civil law enforcement at government expense. Voters, residents, homeowners, employees and small businesses do not have the money to enforce the nation's laws. This should be done by the federal, state and local governments, but it is not being done by any of them. My concept for the "town attorney general" is to decentralize the awsome power of the state Attorney General by creating an army of 40,000 (hopefully elected) public attorneys general throughout the United States (one for each governmental unit below the state level) who will start enforcing the nation's civil laws on behalf of the nation's voters, residents, employees, homeowners and small businesses - AT GOVERNMENTAL EXPENSE. In other words, we no longer can rely upon the federal and state governments to enforce the rights of individuals, and the way of dealing with this problem is to create an enforcement office at the lowest levels of government. This is very much a legal problem, as I see it, and something to which I am devoting a significant amount of time, in addition to my litigation law practice. If you would like to help out or want to talk about any of these matters, please give me a call, 212-307-4444 or send me an email, to carlpers@ix.netcom.com

Louis O. Kelso - July 1983 Air date

November 10, 2008 - 5:59pm

Louis O. Kelso - July 1983 Air date Louis O. Kelso (1913-1991 R.I.P.)) was a lawyer, investor and economic thinker who sought to find a way to preserve capitalism from the competition of communism as an alternative within the context of the early Cold War and is credited with the creation of the first Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). His non-conformist "capitalism" might be compared to the peoples' capitalism ideas of G. K. Chesterton in which ownership is distributed to as many people as possible within the economy. Kelso developed the idea of Binary Economics to explain the need for expanded capital ownership in light of industrial production and the dominance of capital instead of labor. In 1956 Louis Kelso invented the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) to put his ideas into practice. The first ESOP which was used by the employees of Peninsula Newspapers Inc., based in Palo Alto, California, to acquire the newspaper chain. Since that time, ESOPs have been used by hundreds of companies, including Avis, Exxon Mobil, Standard Oil of California and Atlantic Richfield. In 1958, Kelso collaborated with the philosopher Mortimer Adler to write The Capitalist Manifesto that is considered the primary source of his economic theories. Kelso and Adler followed this book with The New Capitalists (Random House, New York: 1961). Both books are readable online from the Kelso Institute. Louis O. Kelso had significant discussions concerning a Basic Income Guarantee with Russell B. Long and Daniel Patrick Moynihan.[1] Kelso has inspired many economic thinkers including James S. Albus, Robert Ashford and Norman Kurland.[2] Kelso & Company In 1971, Louis Kelso founded Kelso Bangert & Company as a merchant bank that would be both an advisor and investor in mergers and acquisitions involving Employee Stock Ownership Plans. The firm, which would later come to be known as Kelso & Company, would transition toward private equity investments in the late 1970s and would raise its first private equity fund in 1980. Today Kelso & Company is a $10 billion private equity firm and was among the 50 largest private equity firms globally. [edit] Quote "The Roman arena was technically a level playing field. But on one side were the lions with all the weapons, and on the other the Christians with all the blood. That's not a level playing field. That's a slaughter. And so is putting people into the economy without equipping them with capital, while equipping a tiny handful of people with hundreds and thousands of times more than they can use." --Louis O. Kelso in Bill Moyers: A World of Ideas, (1990)

Albert Wilking 11-13-08 Air date

November 8, 2008 - 12:49am

Albert Wilking 11-13-08 Air date Albert Wilking. I was born in Anaheim California in 1963. My father was a photographer, painter, and inventor. We camped all over the west coast, regularly visited Disneyland, Museums and Galleries. We lived in New Mexico and Texas and then moved to New Brunswick, NJ. Daytrips were common to Soho and to abandoned barns along the Delaware. At the age of 7 I began sketching on a regular basis. My father taught me about composition and picking the best sketch out of a group. I had a number of shows and sold a couple dozen paintings by the time I was 12. My images come from my imagination, exactly where, I don't know. I try to draw for about 2 hours a day. I do a stream of consciousness type drawing and then up comes a memory, an idea, and or an image and I find myself putting together a sort of collage of thoughts. I try to boil the images down to their most symbolic forms, a kind of alchemy. I want my art to be archetypes of the human experience. 1986 BS from the College of New Jersey. 2000 New School University, NYC 2001 Pratt Institute, NYC Albert Wilking writes, produces and edits for Crazy Studios. Crazy Studios wonderful graphics, banners, photos and flash animations are made by our Designer/Art Director - Svetlana Golovko. www.crazystudios.com

November 7, 2008 - 3:36pm

Kirkpatrick Sale 01-19-96 Air date Kirkpatrick Sale (Ithaca, New York 1937) is an independent scholar and author who has written prolifically about environmentalism, technology and political decentralism. He has been described as "a leader of the Neo-Luddites"[1] and "the theoretician for a new secessionist movement."[2] Life and work Sale graduated from Cornell University, majoring in history, in 1958.[3][4] He served as editor of the student-owned and managed newspaper, the Cornell Daily Sun. Sale was one of the leaders of the May 23, 1958 protest against university policies forbidding male and female students fraternizing and its "in loco parentis" policy. Sale and his friend and roommate Richard Farina, and three others, were charged by Cornell. The protest was described in Farina's 1966 novel, Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up to Me.[2] Upon graduation, Sale married Faith Apfelbaum (in Cornell, 1958) who later worked as an editor with Thomas Pynchon, Kurt Vonnegut, Joseph Heller and Amy Tan. She died in 1999.[5] Sale worked initially in journalism for the leftist journal New Leader and the New York Times Magazine, before becoming a freelance journalist. He spent time in Ghana and wrote his first book about it. His second book, SDS, was about the radical 1960s group Students for a Democratic Society. Subsequent books explored radical decentralism, bioregionalism, environmentalism, the Luddites and similar themes.[4] He has continued to write for publications like The Nation, CounterPunch, The New York Review of Books, Utne Reader and Mother Jones. Seth Farber Ph.D, 10-30-08

October 25, 2008 - 12:50am

Seth Farber Ph.D Dr. Seth Farber, is a psychologist (he received his doctorate in 1984), a social activist (both in the human rights and anti-war movements) and founder of the Network Against Coercive Psychiatry. He has had four books published previously, including a book critiquing Zionism, and numerous essays and articles. A critic of the mental health system, he has been a guest on many television and radio shows. His first book Madness, Heresy and the Rumor of Angels:The Revolt Against the Mental Health System(Open Court, Chicago, 1993) contained a foreword by Thomas Szasz. The publication of his book Lunching with Lunatics: Adventures of a Renegade Psychologist has been temporarily postponed due to circumstances beyond his control. (See excerpts.) Dr Farber is also an editor of the pioneering review The Journal of Mind and Behavior, and is currently working on a book on "mad liberation" and the new spirituality. Farber founded the Network Against Coercive Psychiatry in 1988. Selected Works Nonfiction Madness, Heresy, and the Rumor of Angels: The Revolt Against the Mental Health System A work in the tradition of Thomas Szasz, R.D. Laing, Michel Foucault and Erving Goffman, a challenge to the delusional belief-system known as psychiatry; and a protest against its appalling crimes. Eternal Day: The Christian Alternative to Secularism and Modern Psychology (Regina Press, 1998) A critique of psychoanalysis and the medical model model of psychology as a form of secularized Augustinianism. Augustinianism, with its insistence on predestination and eternal damnation, was an inversion of the original Christian teaching of human freedom to respond to infinite grace and the promise of universal salvation. Unholy Madness: The Church's Surrender to Psychiatry (InterVarsity Press,1999) "An important book." --Thomas Szasz, M.D., Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry, State University of New York Health Science Center; author of The Myth of Mental Illness (Click on title above to read excerpt from book.) Radicals, Rabbis and Peacemakers:Conversations with Jewish Critics of Israel (Common Courage Press, 2005) The contributors are among the leading American Jewish critics of Zionism and of Israel's policies towards the Palestinians: Noam Chomsky, Norman Finkelstein, Marc Ellis, Adam Shapiro, Phyllis Bennis, Rabbi Weiss and 6 others. Psychiatry Today (2001) Excerpt (slightly altered) from essay in Review of Existential Psychology and Psychiatry (2001, 25th Anniversary Issue) "Against Psychotherapy and Biological Psychiatry" Organization Network Against Coercive Psychiatry Network Against Coercive Psychiatry is an organization comprised of psychotherapists (including psychiatrists), survivors of psychiatric incarceration (commonly known as "mental patients"), scholars and other concerned citizens. Pending memoir. Non-fiction. Lunching with Lunatics:Adventures of a Renegade Psychologist. After years of practicing therapy,Dr Farber-- a psychologist in the tradition of his hero, radical psychiatrist R.D. Laing-- concludes that mental illness is a myth and that "schizophrenics," although often troubled, are the vanguard of a cultural revolution. Farber falls in love with Carla, and a few years later with Lily, both "schizophrenics." (Neither were patients of his.) These two crazy women are so intelligent and charismatic that their personalities burst through the stereotype of "mental illness." Farber talks to crazy people in their own language. Psychiatrists call it "schizophrenese" but Farber calls it the language of dreams, of poetry, of magic. Farber's dogged romantic persistence makes us wonder whether he is a brilliant visionary or a crackpot himself--or both. This is an inspiring story, profound in its implications--it is an affirmation of a vision of life beyond the dichotomies of sanity and insanity as we know them.
